What food to avoid and what to take more?

Hi Mummies..i am in my first trimester...wondering what food is nutritional for my baby and what are the 'no no' food?

no-no food are, raw food (eg sashimi & sushi), liver & kidney (cos their iron contents too high), tuna & sharks meat (mercury contents too high), blue cheese.

yeah no raw foods at all, chao ta overcooked foods aso better dun, internal organs better dun aso, cheeses n igh mercury fishes.

Hey LoVeS, y cannot eat raw food lei?? When I was in 1st trimester, I craved for Salmon sashimi like hell!! In fact throughout my whole pregnancy... :Dancing_tongue:

AS far as i can remember, I only eat lots of fruits, vegetables, fish, & meat. In Phil. gynea says I can eat anything I want. But everytime I feel nauseated, i eat fruits.

think still can eat salmon sashimi.... just eat in moderation.... I also had that during my preggie period...


Selina_Fong, maybe can ask your mil or your mum? Or can also check with your gynae if you're not sure...

but eat everything in moderation... even if you're a coke lover, also the same... everything in moderation...

bcoz is raw tt might contain bacteria in it. Btw it told by my gynae dun eat.

I had the indulgence of polishing off a huge plate of salmon shashimi last week! More than 10 slices to myself!!!!! :shyxxx:

I read online that we cannot eat bittergourd. Bad for the pregnancy.
I've never heard of it b4 till I was searching for bittergourd recipes.
Now dun dare eat le

Some mummies from other forums commented cannot take too much birdnests, especially in early tri., coz too liang (cooling)
However, I have been taking them every day, 1 spoonful since my 7th weeks till now.
So far so good. I notice my skin is better too.

Am taking cordycerp soups too. Dunno what difference does it really makes, just taking it coz ppl say its good.

Congrats stefylim.
They say have to avoid eating big fishes and fishes that swim along seabeds like stingrays too, coz high in mercury. Tuna is one of those high mercury content fish.
Heard Delmontes bananas oso cannot eat, coz cooling.

heard from my boss is to avoid papaya & watermelon...as they are very cooling n also sashimi n eel....
Ya watermelon but papaya is still ok N of coz no raw foods.

My gynae told me everything also can eat except for raw and uncooked food.

She told me that all fruits are good for me but to avoid taking too much durian as it is rather fattening for the mummy. Watermelon can eat but only those you prepare at home cos u need to eat it as soon as it is cut so as to prevent the watermelon from absording bateria/dust in the surrounding.

Of course I also heard from my MIL that we should not take certain type of bananas, should not take cooling fruits/ drinks. Sigh! So many things cannot take...so boring man.

eh.. i was told to eat durians at e end of e trimester! good for bb! cant rem y liao though..

canot take those long bananas.. short ones can..

Durain fattens up the baby.

Ya, avoid the long bananas(Delmontes), coz too cooling.
But I think everything is abt moderation la. I add alot of no-no food too, but kept in moderation just to satisfy the cravings. Hehe. :001_302:

heard durians build up bb immune system or sumting? but not too much though cos too heaty....:) during 3rd trimester can take coconut..good for bb complexion. :) just no raw food. take in more fish like salmon for the omega n calcium..drink more milk..i drink at least 2 glasses of fresh milk everyday ever since my 2nd tri. :)

Hello! New in here. Currently in my 11th week. Welcoming my 2nd trimester now. I didn't know TUNA was a no-no. I ate some last week!! Two servings still! I don't like Fishes. My hubby kept forcing me to eat them. sometimes raising his voice on that too! =X

If I remember correctly , I didn't take fruits like watermelon , orange . Told by my folks that watermelon too 'liang' , cooling .
Orange will cause phlegm .

Cannot drink coffee , tea , cold water . Can't remember the reason to this .

During my pregnancy , I ate alot of vegetables and mostly fast food .
