As a pcos patient I'll only say, metformin is useless for me. Had it for as long as u can guess but nothing happened. Self control on diet and tcs worked best. Pregnant within 3 months and now a proud mother of a boy.

Last cycle we did charting and ovulation predictor but we did not get pregnant.

When you say on chinese medicine 2 months? does that mean cannot try to conceive?

just wanted to share, if anyone is interested in doing traditional chinese medicine for fertility.

have been trying for a baby since March 2012. already knew I would have some problems as I have very irregular period. saw my gynae from Thomson Medical Center who did a scan for me and found that I have many small follicles/cysts on my ovaries indicating that I don't always ovulate properly. diagnosed with PCOS...hubby's swimmers are normal when tested. Was put on Clomid since August 2012 and responded well to it, always ovulating on time, but somehow never managed to conceive even with peeing on OPK, taking BBT, timing everything... was really quite depressed about it. This year in June, my gynae mentioned I cannot stay on Clomid already (found out that extended use of Clomid can actually cause higher risk of ovarian cancer). My mother suggested that I try traditional chinese medicine to 'tiao' my body... wanted to see Dr Seah Ai Wei at Thomson Medical Center traditional chinese medicine but she was on maternity leave, so I got Dr Chen Fang instead as I requested for a doctor that can speak English (my Chinese really sucks!). She is very nice and friendly, explained that it could take up to 3 months to see results. She diagnosed that I have imbalance of yin...signed up for an acupuncture package, doing acupuncture weekly plus had powders and pills to take twice a day. Who would have guessed that I would conceive that very month!!! Super happy and continuing acupuncture under Dr Chen Fang, and also seeing my gynae for the baby. For my case, it's something like unexplained infertility where everything should work but just somehow doesn't... think the traditional chinese medicine helped to "warm" my womb as traditional chinese medicine aims to make the body more hospitable and welcoming for a baby. It also helped to regulate my period and ovulation without use of western meds so that we knew when to try.. now I'm 8 weeks pregnant and hoping everything goes fine :)

Thank you very much for sharing this info.
I am considering a few TCM doctors but they seem far for me and I dont drive.
And this should be quite a regular thing so perhaps Dr Cheng Fang could work for me, too!

Thank you

Hi Faith, how long have you been with Dr Wu?

If it doesnt work for you, you can try alternative sinseh? Heard Dr Su (I think Jurong) is quite reputable. Have you and hubby done any checks at the doctor before?

Hi,

I've been trying to conceive since Oct 2012, have been seeing TCM in bugis for about 6months prior to trying to conceive as the sinseh said my body is weak & i didnt have good sleep (tossing & turning or waking up about 4 times a night). Was seeing him to get good sleep at that time as i was always tired & in Oct he said my body was in good condition to try. ,
Tried 4 months no news ( not sure if i was stress due to always being disappointed on the negative results). Went to a gynae at Gleneagles, Dr Lee and he said my hubby had
morphology problem too (sperm odd shapes & low mobility rate). He was on liquid medication - Camipure supposedly to boost his soldiers. I was on oral medication - Serophene to boost my ovulation. After 3 months still no news, doc suggest i go for HSG, luckily no blockage. Hubby's mobility rate slight increased after his medication.
Went back to Serophene & him on Camipure for another 3 months..
Now on my last strip on the pills & wondering if i should go back to TCM again.
Dr Lee did mention during this period not to take TCM medication in case it would clash with his.. On my wits as i'm 29 & i wanna have a BB before hitting 30....
:embarrassed:

Vho, I'm also 29. Conceived after seeing the TCM doc at Thomson medical centre. Her name is dr Chen Fang. You can see my story in this thread, a bit earlier.

She mentioned you can take western meds but must take at least 3 hours after Chinese meds so that it won't clash. But I really recommend you to see her and take up her acupuncture package. I conceived with TCM after just 1 month, after trying to conceive on western meds for more than 1 year. She did say mine is special case, usually won't respond so quickly, but I do believe in the good results of TCM. Your hubby can do acupuncture too to improve his swimmers.

Yes all the Thomson Medical TCM doctors are specialists in women's problems, which includes gynaecological issues (fertility etc). The doctor Chen Fang is really helpful and thorough. She asks me a lot of clarifying questions, and she also seems very knowledgeable about the western meds and procedures I was going through at the time.

It might be a bit more expensive than other TCM places but I feel like in a hospital environment I can really trust the doctors there too. I was a bit worried that some of the other sinsehs or TCM places might not be very clean or might not be as qualified...especially when it's to do with traditional meds that may not be regulated by MOH. Don't want to risk going to a place that may not be clean, some more using acupuncture needles!! Also, at our age, I don't really have time to try this and try that already. After one year of western meds not working, I wanted to go to the best TCM place...no regrets :) if I'm not wrong, the weekly acupuncture I did is to help regulate period, tiao the body and "warm" the womb to make it more receptive to fertilization. also had medicine to drink every day. the doc will recommend what is best for you.

They have quite a few success stories on posters at the clinic... even the receptionist who dispenses the meds is very nice and helpful. It's also not too crowded so I never have to wait for my appointment. even saw a couple of caucasians there before..guess they also have realized the power of TCM haha :)

Their number is 63508850 if you want to call and make appt. Don't have to sign acupuncture package straight away, it's good to go for like a trial checkup, see if you have a good feeling about the doctor and the clinic too.

Hi, i heard that there is one TCM at Toa Payoh is also not bad. So I was wondering the tcm at amk or toa payoh, which one is better?
any advice?

Does anyone knows when is the Ngee Ann Traditional Chinese Medicine Centre (TCMC) re-opening their new branch in Bedok ? I used to visit the sinseh bi-weekly, and I really did manage to conceive after consuming their brew medicine for 3 months. The brew medicine is not exactly cheap, about 5bucks a packet, but very effective.

Have you heard of ageLOC R2? A supplement that helps to improve sexual health for both females and males. I have a friend who took the supplement and is now pregnant when her husband was diagnosed with 6% active sperm count while she was having PCOS condition. This might be something you may want to explore on, contact me at 9798 6863 and i can show you more. Have a good day.

my hubs also had poor morphology (1% normal shaped too!), normal sperm count though. the doc suspected it might be insufficient selenium in his diet (he's semi vegetarian) so i put him on a multi-vit supplement (basically just centrum). His morphology improved to 3% after 2 months and we successfully conceived after one try of IUI. i'm due in 2 weeks time. dont give up!

I believe that whatever medical probs you have should be settled first with western meds. TCM is more of wellness and supplementary medicine, as faith said to "prime" your body for conception and make it more receptive. It's also good for those with unexplained infertility, ie the gynae cannot find anything wrong physically but you just can't conceive. I agree, pls get yourself checked first at a gynae or specialist.
