HI Winisca

When I was having my baby, I was doing two check up in Sin and in KL. I saw Dr Susana from Damansara Specialist. Very friendly, helpful and patient. After the 3rd trimester that I can no longer fly I decided to give birth in Singapore.

Her no is 0377181123.

Good luck and best wishes!

Hiya! R u a Singaporean married to a Malaysian too? I think you are able to apply dual citizenship (Singaporean or Malaysian) for your baby and he/she can choose his/her citizenship when he/she turns 21 years old. For more info, you can visit this website: ICA - Apply for Singapore Citizenship

Oops, just saw replies to this thread. My obgyn was Dr. Theresa Chow, Gleneagles Intan KL suite #606, tel. +60-3-42534460. Can't remember charges, on the higher side in KL, still very reasonable if convert to S$. I find her very professional and up-to-date.

Our case is Singaporean Mummy, Malaysian Daddy, Malaysian son. We did not apply for Singapore citizenship as well because that would mean needing to serve NS when we are residing in KL. I read the Act (law) which mentions that if son intends to give up Singapore citizenship in future, he may be required to complete NS before doing so.

Therefore, consider carefully before opting for dual-citizenship. Keep in touch. :)

Hi there,

We are also in the midst of deciding, but leaning towards Singapore citizenship. I am Singaporean married to Malaysian Hubby.

Anyone gave birth in Malaysia but baby was registered as Singaporean? Just wondering as ICA advise I must apply for baby citizenship if baby born outside Singapore but worried will this be 100% approval? or depending on case to case basis they allow the baby to take on the Singapore Citizenship?

Hi Kaerb,
Are you based in Singapore or in Malaysia?

I gave birth in Malaysia and had applied for both Malaysia and Singapore citizenship for my baby.

Hi winsicca,

I am based in KL currently with my husband. I checked with ICA on both citizenship and apparently they don't allow dual citizenship.. So how did you managed to get both citizenship for your baby? So your baby have 2 passports?

Hi Kaerb,

Yes, I have both Singapore and Malaysia Passport for my baby.

Singapore Government does not allow a Singapore citizen to possess dual nationalities. However, a minor citizen is allowed to hold dual citizenship until the age of 21 where he/she has to make a decision on which citizenship he/she decides to hold.

Perhaps you should check with ICA again.

Hope this helps.

hello mummies,
I'm a mummy to be, i'm singaporean but my hubby is Malaysian.
We have plans to do our check ups in Singapore but to deliver in Malaysia.
Does any mummy know if this is possible?
how about baby's citizenship? born in M'sia means M'sian and then apply for Singapore citizenship reporting baby is born outside of Singapore and get both passports for baby?

can baby have their own passport at birth already?
Sorry, i'm a first time mummy, so many questions and getting anxious with pregnancy already. :p

Thanks!

Hi

I'm also a new mummy-to-be...Singaporean but hubby is a Malaysian.
We are based in Ipoh and i'm doing all my check-ups in Pantai Hospital Ipoh too.
We are planning to apply both Msian and Spore citizenship for my child too...

Found out that some baby products are so expensive here in Msia, writing down a list of things to buy when i'm back in Spore.
