I let DD1 take the YAMAHA music appreciation class 1st and the teacher will advise how to proceed upon completion of the 2 years basic course- to branch out to piano, organ or other instruments.

A good piano is not cheap here.

Good to go for music appreciation at young age. About 2+. But upon reaching 3,4 when they can read and write alphabets and numbers, try to go for individual classes. If not u will regret wasting time. Most of the parents feedback to me.

For Yamaha JMC and JXC, it takes 4 yrs before ur child can take grade 1. Whereas individual classes is about 1.5 to 2 yrs for ages 4-5 yrs old. 3 yrs for age 3+. Of cos it depends on individual as well.
