EDD Sept 2012 mummies!

Haha, you seems to worry too much ya! But it's normal for a mum:) i was a bit nervous too before i did the scan. My gynae explained all to me while she do the scanning, she explained the heart like this is fine la, lips, fingers everything. That's why i know that my boy's 2nd toe is longer. She even laughed that with that toe can confirmed my boy is the son of my husband. It is normal since my husband & his father have the same toe. (just heard that one of my colleague also the same)
I think you can just relax while she/he do the scan on your baby, i'm sure they will tell you if anything goes wrong. Of cos, must hope for the best that everything is okay ya! Most of all, you must relax yourself & think positively & eat healthy :Dancing_tongue:

Thanks and sorry for not quoting you.. ^^v

Ya i keep telling myself not to think so much etc.. But compared to my other friends who are also pregnant now, i really feel i'm not gaining enough weight and not eating enough nutritious food. Hopefully everything will turn out okay.. ^^

I just keep shifting my thoughts from all these worries to thinking what cute clothes i will buy, what stroller, what breast pump etc.. hahhaha

hehe you're welcome!
I seldom eat vegetable, fruits before pregnant & even i am pregnant now, i still didn't take much of enough healthy food. Occasionally i drink milk, eat some vege, some fruits. Most of the time i eat what i feel like to eat, coffee or tea like that. I ate instant noodle for twice somemore @@ (Don't scold me :p ) Of course i am taking supplement everyday. Sometime i feel like i am not a good mummy haha. I talk to my baby everyday that 'mummy believe you are a healthy & cute baby'. Cuz i believe positive energy will create positive outcome. :001_302:
Sorry not to scare you but the reason i become so positive to my baby now is becuz i lost my 1st baby after i said some bad words (after argued with my husband lor... ) to baby. I was so regret ever since then.
So stay happy ya :) You should look forward to the detailed scan cuz you can see your baby again!

hi ladies, as im a 1st time mummy, i would like to know wats this detailed scan all abt compared to normal scan?? izzit a 3/4d scan??
Hi mflee1312,
Detailed scan is also known as OSCAR, a very detailed ultrasound scan. Not all gynaes do it in their clinic & will recommend those that have the machine to do it. Cost $400-500 at specialist clinics. Not all need go for it though, unless they regular gynae suspected a potential problem or the mtb wants peace of mind. You can check with your gynae.
Amnio test is for mtb's above age 35, or those with familiy history of genetic disorders. Very accurate test for Down's syndrome & other chromosomal defects. Gynae will withdraw 20cc of amniotic fluid & send to lab for culture. It takes about 2.5weeks to "grow" the DNA before they give you back the results. Cost 1.5-1.7k...And some say there is 10% risk of mc for this procedure.
I'm also a 1st time mtb & can share my experience with you if you want. You can pm me for more details.

Ya if i'm not wrong & based on the info that i've found from website, there's timing for visitor & can't stay overnight if you choose 2-bedded or 4-bedded room. I think reason being is room is small + so many women in a room, not too suitable for guy to stay overnight right? :)
I choose for normal delivery. Oh, we can also call to TMC to make appointment for hospital tour, they can show us different types of room.

I'm so so soo nervous for my detailed scan.. It wont be until may but i'm worried about it. Keep thinking i'm not eating well enough and dunno the baby's organ will have anything wrong or not..

Do we need to ask things to the sonographer or by right the sonographer will tell us what is happening to the baby? Like for the case here where the baby has longer toe than the other (sorry i forgot to quote you..), did the sonographer tell you this or was it because you ask things about the toes etc??

I'm so worried i missed things out thus i might sound so paranoid if not idiotic.. I've thought of asking about the bones, kidneys, lungs, heart, liver, cleft lips, fingers, toes, gender (for sure!), eyes, nose, ears. But i'm so so worried i might missed all these out at the day itself..
frankly for me, i didn't ask anything at all. i was too tired and slept throughout the whole thing. the sonographer was quite amused at how the bb is so hyperactive while the mummy is sleeping so soundly away throughout her whole scan.

hee how much weight hv you gained? i haven't had much appetite and my cravings are for simple or junk food like fast food and prata >< my weight gain is actually less than 1 kg after 20 weeks... however i'm overweight so i guess there's nothing to worry about. i've been taking my supplements diligently too! i haven't thought about what to buy for bb yet... a bit overwhelmed now, by all these thoughts on bb and by work as well.

so far didn't hv time to talk to bb or even watch cartoon, since i brought a lot of work home and work till wee hours... only greeted good morning in the morning and good night atnight... hubby also nv bother to talk to bb... busy with playing his games.

Oh dear... please do have enough rest and please please take some time off for your baby and yourself. Dont exhaust your body because you still have to prepare your health (and stamina if you are deliver normal) for delivery and after delivery.

Frankly, i didnt gain much too. I'm quite petite, before preg, my weight was kinda normal i guess, maybe more to a lil bit underweight. First tri-sem, i lost near to 3kg, and around 16 wks i tried to gain back at least the weight i've lost. So until now, at 17wks, my weight is still around the same as before preg.

I've read some online articles that by right you should gain at least 0.5kg every week if you had normal BMI level before preg. But if you are overweight, i think it's okay if you gain slightly lesser.

Until now, my apetite also not really crazy. What i really crave on is home cooked food, totally free from msg and all those unhealthy seasoning. I cant cook, so i have to wait for my mum to come or go to my MIL to have some home cooked food. I ate like crazy when i was in my MIL house.. lol.

Thanks Melly. Ive gone for my Amnio Test on 12 May and everything turns out fine so am I right to say that I do not need to go for another detailed scan/oscar test again??
