Hi Laddies,
I am new in here and wondering if this thread is still active?
I've been trying TTC for 5 years, got preg naturally 3 years ago but ended with M/C at 6 weeks and til now still no luck. Diagnosed recently with one of my tubes blocked and Hubby's has 'Teratozoospermia' condition with only 2% motility.
I am seeing Dr. Charles Lim from Mt. Elizabeth Hospital since I heard from some people that he is a good caring doctor. So we tried Plan A (which is Clomid+Gonal injection+time intercourse) but no luck so we move on to Plan B (which is clomid+gonal+monitor Ovulation+IUI) but my menses was coming two days ago so that mean Plan B is also no luck.
Feel so sad, depress and don't know what to do? do we need to try another IUI or go directly to IVF? is anyone here can give any suggestion? or in the same boat?

Hi Clizy,

Dun lose hope for you might not know what miracles awaits for you:Dancing_wub:. Like you I tried Plan A for Plan B twice and all failed. I am going to start my IVF process this month end.

By the way how old are you? Remember you are not alone.... There are so many ppl going thru the same pain that we are going thru.....But eventually some get success faster while some has to wait awhile more.....

Thanks babymee for your support and sharing
I've been thinking lately and discuss with my hubby if we need to try another IUI or just jump directly to IVF since we both are no longer young (I am 35yr and so does my hubby), don't want to waste time anymore.
I've read the IVF procedure last night and feel more depress after that cause there are so many things that need to be done (physically and mentally). I wanted to give another try for the 2nd IUI but I heard IUI with Clomid can make your uterus thin so i really don't know what to do now.

May I know which Dr. are you going for the IVF?

You are welcome Clizy......

I am seeing Dr Sadhana in KKH............IVF and IUI are similar its just that there is egg retrival and 2 month process in IVF....I also tink that IVF stand a better chance of getting pregnant since the embroy is transfered to the womb.

Both IUI and IVF do have the same mentally and physically stress.........

Hi babymee,
Yeah, i couldn't agree with you more that both IUI and IVF have the same stress level ;(
My Dr told me that IVF has 30-40% sucess rate compare to IUI which only 10%. He actually told us to do the IVF after the 1st IUI fail but also leave it to us if we are not ready for IVF.
After me and my hubby discussed last night, so finally we are ready to move on to IVF. I will start for the IVF program on my next cycle (next month).

Since you're doing IVF this month end, I really wish you good luck and wait for your good news

Hi Clizy,

Thank you..

Where are you doing your IVF & who is ur Dr? Hapi that you have decided to go for it......Wishing you all the best and hang in there and hope to hear a good news from you.

Hi babymee,

Both of us are good :)

Read that you are with Dr Sadhana, I did my ivf with her as well :) but had to switch gynae after confirmed pregnant because she doesnt do obstetric cases anymore. I think you are in good hands.

Good luck to babymee and Clizy!

Hi, I am new here. Need some advice. I have just done the embryo transfer this Monday. Inexperience v painful cramps until I bathe with very warm water then the cramps subsided a bit. But these few days I am still experiencing sligh cramps on and off, sometimes feel nauseous n headache at night, especially after a car ride. Is this normal? When will the cramps go away?

I really love seafood. Do yOu think eating seafood like crabs, clams, prawns are ok during this period? I am trying to avoid sashimi though.

Hi Rainflower,

Have you checked with the clinic nurses about the cramps?? It's quite normal to have cramps and bloatedness but if your cramps are really bad, maybe they can do something to help you. The cramps will continue until in the first trimester when the uterus is stretching to accommodate the fetus. I was worried when I didn't feel my cramps for a day :)

Not sure about seafood, the doctor said anything also can eat but older folks will tell you crabs are cooling or poisonous. I guess moderation is the answer. Hope that helps!

Hi Clizy,

You are not alone.....I have similar condition (Hubby with Teratozoospermia and only 2%motility. I have went to Dr Charles Lim and we did 3x IUI. The first IUI sucessful but after a week i have M/C then we tried again 2x IUI all failed. Now we decided to go for IVF which is scheduled next month and I will be doing it in KK. Btw my doc is the same as Katherine & babymee who is Dr Sadhana so I feel more secure n comfort to be with her. She has lots of good comments in this forum.

I wish you good luck and wait for your good news.....

Hi Angelaang,

Thanks for sharing with me ;) Yeah, I did my 1st IUI last month with Dr.Charles Lim (Mt. Elizabeth) and It wasn't succeed. He said that if the IUI was not succeed then the Next Step is better if we jump to IVF instead of doing another round of IUI.
After discussing with my hubby then we decided that We will start the IVF program in my next cycle which will be Next week for the IVF preparation. However, as I am still thinking whether we need another second opinion from other doctor?
Angelaang, may i know why do you switch to other doctor and not continue doing IVF with Dr. Charles Lim?

Hi Celica,

Sorry to hear about your baby. Have you checked with the doctor? I did have the same situation with you. I got pregnant once and after 7 weeks was m/c. Me and my hubby have been trying for 4 years and this year I start to checked with fertility doctor and done some test (tube test, sperm test) and finally find out that since I have m/c before one of my tubes is block and my hubby has condition which called "Teratozoospermia and only 2%motility". Some doctors will give you other suggestions before you jump to do the IVF based on your situation (Fertility injections + time intercourse, or IUI). So maybe you can go to specialist Fertility Doctor first and usually they will ask you to do some tests to find the problem. Hope this will help.

Hello ladies, hope you don't mind that I'm barging in this thread which I chanced upon :)

Hi Celica, have you and your hubby gone to a fertility dr/specialist to do some tests and checks? It is very important to do that so you can have more options. If there are any tubal issues, the only option is IVF.

Hi clizy, sorry to hear that your IUI wasn't successful, don't be disheartened coz there's always a chance :) In my opinion seek a second opinion by all means even if it's just for your peace of mind.

Hi babymee, good luck on your procedure and tons of babydust!!!

Hi Angelaang, good luck as well for your procedure and tons of babydust too!!

Just something to share:
My hubby and I were trying for 1 year on our own without successful and I just knew it was me with problems. for the next year I went to 2 gynaes who couldn't help me.
By the end of 2nd year, I finally found a fertility specialist who could help, Dr L.C> Cheng from Thomson Medical. I did all the necessary tests and to cut the story short, with my dr's help and advise, I got pregnant with my first try of clomid and timed intercourse. Unfortunately that ended as Ectopic. My dr told me after the procedure that when he was removing the embryo from the tube that my tube is not working right. It is not blocked but somehow the little "hairs/follicles" along the tubes are not moving and working to push the fertilized egg into the uterus, that's why egg stuck there.
I wouldn't give up and try with clomid again, and after 3 mths got pregnant the 2nd time, again the fertilized egg got stuck in my same left tube and this time it died on its own & I miscarried ard 7 weeks.
I was depressed, disheartened and felt guilty for indirectly killing 2 lives. My dr was very kind and encouraged me to try IVF, explaining to me why that is my best chance and the details involved plus patiently answered all and any questions that I have.
My hubby and I finally decided to go for it in March and we are very lucky to be almost 27 weeks pregnant now :)

Sorry for the long story but my point is there is always hope. Find a good gynae, find out as much as you can about your body, your options and the details about the procedures.

Anyway, just my 2 cents worth :) Good luck to all you ladies! I'm not an expert on IVF but should you like to vent, share or find out more I'll gladly share whatever I know :)

Hi Clizy,

I have switched to KK because of the government grants as only government hospital can entitle for this $3k grants.

So you are starting your IVF this week? All the best to you and Good Luck!!!!
