About what Stonston said on his nephew, that he got beaten up and the teacher told him to fight.
I personally think it is ok to tell the kid to fight for himself. Bullying does happen in school, it is even worst in primary school. It is important for the child to learn to be able to deal with it. It is a form of survival skill.
My boy used to get bullied by another boy in nursery. Then later he got smart and stayed away from him and befriend other kids. He is now being bullied by my gal. So I told him that he must defend himself, and I gave him the option of either telling her off or practice defence. I can't watch over him all the time.

sharing my experience wif PAP .. dovan went to PAP at hougang for $60 nursery n K1 $90 but wen we moved to sengkang now.. dosen $108 for nursery dovan last yr K1 is $128 now K2 is $153 .. per mth ... how come PAP all different wan ah?? but here is damn expensive can haiz, n e teacher sucks totally.. wenever i try to tell dem something dey will say okok but never do.. dosen is e poor thing of all, tis yr dosen is in nursery den being used to stick to me he tend to cry alot wenever he go sch..
at first dovan's last yr de teacher was dere n will help mi hoax dosen all tis but on e 3rd day dosen cry until veri jialat so i stood outside to see how long he actually will cry for as teacher told me for e 1st & 2nd day he cried for 3hrs !!! wen i stand outside n listen thro e doors, i heard a chn teacher using a harsh tone on dosen...
"i say keep quiet !! stop crying can wait u cry until vomit den i still have to mop for u.. enough liao, i dont wanna hear anymore sound coming from u" all tis words loh, how sad i am loh, am already sad tat he crying so bad liao yet tis teacher didnt even help to hoax him at all until i heard e malay teacher who teach dovan last yr de went over to hoax him n somehow carried dosen away fm door.. cos he was clinging on e door
tis wk, hubby & me bring dosen to sch together n dosen cry again so e same chn teach told me something tat pissed me off "pls let him calm down before letting him to come in e class"
i told her if she gonna wait for dosen to stop den wait till 5pm which is after sch loh, den hubby angry n carried dosen off loh.. he say i rather dont let him go sch like tat, paying e sch but teacher dont wanna help parents in bringing in e kids?? wen dey dont let us go in n hoax den n expect us hoax outside till he is quiet liao den bring in ???
den another teacher which i know also de asked me why dosen never go sch, so i told her e case n she asked abt which teacher all tis den she offered to help us carry dosen all e way back to classroom herself..
last wk dosen complain saying teacher scolded him but i tot he is so small maybe donno how to use his words well so didnt take notice of it.. den i found tat his water bottle is never touched at all, as i remember to ask him have to finish his water everyday..
he say teacher scold him wen he wanna drink water, today i was angry so i went n ask e teacher nicely.. i told her dosen drinks water alot de as he pants easily due to asthma but how come he say wen he wanna drink water u tell him cannot leh..
guess wat she say ?? she say bcos dosen everytime open e bottle n cant close it back properly causing spilling water all over e floor n she have trouble to mop it ??!!?? WTF how can she say tat, if she dont have e patience to teach nursery kids pls dont, i'm like wasting my time rite?? i would rather to teach myself at hm n save e money up loh..
so i told her in kinda harsh tone as i'm pissed off le, for ur convience den my son have to thirst to death izzt?? i told her cant u just help dosen to tighten de bottle den save both of u e trouble loh, he can drink his water where u dont have to mop also rite?? den she just smile at me n nod her head...
but still today de water is like didnt touch at all, i tink dosen fear of drinking water at sch now.. wenever i ask him why u dont drink water, he say ''lao shi ma wo =('' den sulked his face .. he drinks alot at hm de loh but now haiz... am sad n also angry loh..
i tot of complaining de but den i tink useless cos de way dey do i dont like... dovan last yr went for excursion often but e consent forms would put 12pm to fetch e kids home but everytime was late.. if like 5min 10 min i'm ok lah, e first time was late for 1hr30mins !!!!!! i was damn worried can, i dont have any numbers to contact e teachers or principal who is going wif dem
can imagine how all e parents was worried, somemore was e first time for me waiting n i was worried tat izzt accident wen on e bus back or wat.. why never inform at all reached after 1hr30min den dont even know how to say sorry until i fed up n throw temper liao saying why cant dey inform us safety of our kids to let us wait in more ease den dey start to say sorry, will take note next time
but everytime excursion will confirm late wan, min 30mins so used to it le.. shouldnt teachers or principal should have more time management???

Try complaining to the principal and see if any action taken. If not, see if complain to PAP, or the yi yuan in charge of your area. If they want our votes or support, I think they will do something....
My son started nursery at PAP this year also. But from day 1, parents are not allowed inside and they closed the windows. So we have no idea how's the situation inside or wat the teacher say. Can solely based on the feedback from my son when he comes home whether teacher got say anything that is not appropriate.
When u complain, don't let the principal or teacher feel that u have no choice but to keep ur child at the school. Let they feel that you can take him out anytime and money is not an issue. Otherwise, they may take advantage of you since u have no option.

ok thax alot... i tink maybe get to talk to principal first n see how.. mine also locked e door n closed windows but bcos tat day dosen cling on e door so e teacher stood dere n say him n i was just outside putting my ears on e door oni so i heard wat she say tat day n i was disappointed loh haiz..
somemore dosen still dont really know how to speak even wen i ask him he also cannot say clearly... so i donno how he can tell me if anything happen =( today same again, haven reach classroom start to cry haiz ..

I m surprise by the teacher's reply.....
The reason these classes are closed could be some kids cry when they see their parents.... so it's normal... and there are some very nosy parents too.....
But when a kid cry too long and refuse to go into the classroom, yes parents should try to calm the kid down before letting the child into the classroom, but the teacher also has his/her duties..... this teacher seems to be pushing away her responsibilities.... talking to the principal should be the 1st step to take, the next one may have to go the the MP liao... should not let this type of ppl become a teacher ....
The teachers that both my boys had was good. I told them i work so not able to see them everyday like other mummies, so i appreciate that they call me whenever smthg happen and the teachers so far had been doing so... so i still think, it's how responsible the teacher is....

Well yes, XD, u shld really go straight to the Principal if toking to the teacher doesn't seems to work.
There was one time when I was told by dd's teacher tt dd beat her classmate. But teacher doesn't kn y she did it cos she doesn't wanna tell teacher. After toking to dd, I found out tt dd's classmate has been pulling her hand until it's red. Dd went to teacher for help but was told to get back to her seat. Well tt resulted in dd settling the prob herself by slapping on her classmate's hand to get her to stop pulling.
I went back to the teacher the following day to gv the teacher a pc of my mind. The teacher told me tt she 'tot' dd juz dun wanna share thus the complain:err:. I told the teacher tt she shldn't assume n if she had check things out the slapping thing wouldn't had happened.
Nevertheless, I got my dd to apologise to the classmate. Sometimes, the work became so monotonous tt teachers tk for granted tt it's juz another truant. Other than tis incident, all r well cos my dds r in very gd relation with almost all the teachers from the centre even the principal n the cleaning ladies :tlaugh:

mine at 143 rivervale drive.. ya loh i also wondering why mine so ex loh, compared to hougangs PAP nearly double can.. i liked dovan's last yr malay teacher she's veri nice n patient with dovan.. but tis yr wan, both of their teachers really cannot make it..
haven got e chance to speak wif principal, as until now i still donno their teacher name.. n principal is seldom in office =(
how come every PAP has different sch fees wan ?? shouldnt be all e same ?? hmmmm, any mummies know why ??

I just came back from 2 years away from Singapore and reading all these are making me worry.
Myy ds enjoyed himself very much in a church preschool for the last two years overseas.
After a day of rest, I am looking at Kindergarten for him. I went to look at the PAP near my mum's place, find it so-so only.
Now I am sourcing for church run kindergartens around my mum's places.

I went to c the PAP kindergarten b4 I decided to put ds to the church kindergarten. I found the teachers at that particular PAP kindergarten not very friendly. I only went to request for a registration form and the teacher attended to me looked really fed-up like she was saying "Why did u come to bother me". So I decided on the church kindergarten.

I happen to search around for kindergarten recommendation and saw this thread.
My dd also in PAP Bt Batok Branch K1 this year. From the 1st day of school till now, what I can see is she has been asked to colour and do colouring all the times. During the first few days, when I picked her up, the teacher released them late and I looked in from the window, guess what they were doing? Colouring!! And what and where they colour on? A nursery rhyme book. Then subsequently, I saw that homework were given, but, they were asked to write the same thing over and over again for 2 weeks except on different paper. Do 2 colourings, same colourings on a worksheet which was written on it as "finger printing". Personally, I feel that she's not learning anything at all in the class, cos everyday, when she returned home, I asked her what she did, she told me colouring, then from day to nite, she will bring out her nursery rhyme book to do colourings and told me her teacher said that was their homework.
On 1 occassion, she drew a picture of herself and learn to write her name, after the teacher marking, the teacher wrote there that she should colour her picture, to me, that is not the crucial and objectives, I feel that as long as her writing are done, it's completed. By seeing that comment, I feel that the school concentrate more on their colourings than their academic, so now, I'm trying to look for a pte kindergarten to attend. The teacher also got attitude, her face like she don't feel like teaching and not devoted to it. I heard from another mother from the same class as my gal told me that she saw her son being beaten up at the chest repeatedly by another student, but the teacher simply ignore it and nvr see it at all unless the mother scream from the window to stop it. My gal was also beaten up by her friend till blueblack. I feel that no matter what, the teacher should step in any fight, or else if our kids suffer from any internal injuries we also don't know.
The above is just my experience with this particular PAP, I feel that different PAP have different circulums and the teachers will be different. So when choosing your PAP, better do a survey and find out more first.

actually, i feel that this will not work in PCF kindergartens. PCF, unlike franchises of childcare, does not gets its funds based solely based on the kids' school fees (i think so). in any case, the amount of school fees one pays for going to PCF, they can do without one more kid...what is +/- $100 a month going to affect their operations?

pcf is an affordable source of kindergarten schooling. it exposes your kids to other kids in the social class and teach these kids to mingle well in groups as well as following rules. it does not teach P1 preparatory stuff. that is why it is so cheap! you can either invest in a better childcare, go for church kindergarten or invest in enrichment for your kid outside of pcf hours.
if they increase the standard of pcf and at the same time increase the fees drastically, will you accept it? it will then become unaffordable to the lower income group, which is the target group of families that pcf is suppose to 'service'.
