There have been many people (mainly locals) who thought I am a Japanese as I am fair & speak Japanese fluently. Some of my native Japanese ex-colleagues thought I am a half Japanese.

Native Koreans think I am a Korean because I am fair & have small eyes like them. (Ya small eyes... Thanks sial... -.-)

There have also been quite a few locals who thought I am half Caucasian, half Chinese as I do not have a typical round face, the colour of my hair (I did not dye my hair) & eyes are not very black, & my nose is high. There was this ang moh who also thought I am of mixed parentage! Haiz... Where got ah?

as for me,no one believes i am singaporean too. They insist i had to be at least eurasian or causcasion. Its a headache i tell u.All conversations go like this"eh where were u born?..singapore..oooh..then ur parents born where?..singapore...oooh then ur grandparents?..idiots want me to draw family tree is it?!!!
But its cool when no one thinks i am a local n pple speakin their own mother tongues abt me..like mandarin ,malay or indian n i being multi lingual know wht they r saying.Usually its something they r curious abt n i wld always surprise them by replying back to them esp those with rude remarks..the looks on their faces is priceless..hahhahah..very fun!!

When I was in Maldives for my honeymoon, I had a group of China tourists who said I look & sounded Shanghainese (well, my mum's half-shanghainese so they are partially right).

When I went to the polyclinic for blood test, the lab technician thought I'm from China because of my name (it's in full hanyu pinyin which is very rare for Singaporeans cos usually will use dialect instead).

Even my students tell me that I look more like a chinese teacher! But I did very badly for chinese! It's my worst subject!
