maybe i should really get a OPK to see when i'm really ovulating..

winnie_gal, totally understand how you feel... we've been trying to BD every other day, for the weeks i thought i am ovulating.. but not successful..

its like every other day still can't strike? perhaps I only really ovulate when we stop BD-ing..

hey shiseru, with the ovulation strip, need to buy alot so that i can use 1 a day to really track when I am ovulating right? cos if i miss it, i would miss my ovulation altogether ya? is that how it works? kinda confusing...

ya... like shiseru I also realise I ovulate early until I use the kit... hahaha

Average ppl use 5-7 strips per mth...

it depends on how long ur mthly cycle is...

if ur cycle is 28days for example... start testing on the 10th day of the cycle (1st day is the start of ur menses)

Normally the kit will explain to u the instructions of using it... follow the instructions closely...

Yeah, mrs eg becomes expert liaoz :p

Try to test at the same time everyday. Best is around 2pm, and reduce your intake of liquid/going to the toilet for 2-3 hours prior to testing.

In case you ask, you can refer to My Baby My World to buy the test strips.

In addition, you may want to consider investing a clearblue ovulation kit. Once you have tested +ve on the normal test strips, test it with the clearblue to reconfirm.

My cycle is similar to mrs eg, a 28 days cycle, so I will start testing on day 10. I will start taking BBT the next round too. sigh~ the journey of making babies is tough! Haha :D

hi all,

I new to this forum.

Just want to share my TTC experience.

Hb is 33 and I'm 31.

We married for 3 years only started to try for BB this year.

last year, I got an operation in KK to remove a number of fibroids from my uterus.

After three months of trying, we have SI every alternate days and every month my period comes. Frustrated, I stopped thinking about the BB but still maintain the alternate day SI (enjoyment) and i even went for a holiday with my family. Upon return, after missing my period for three days (my cycle quite accurate +/-3 days), HB asked if I am preg. I said shouldnt be as we did not have SI during our holiday and I thot those days were not the most fertile days.

Anyway, I tested the preg kit which I bought three months ago and the result is positive. Cant believe it...bought a different brand to try and still shows positive. Just went for a gynae on Tues, BB already 6 wks old and can deduct heartbeat...

So my simple advice to you TTC.

1. Don't think about the preg all the time
2. Enjoy the SI with your partner (try every alternate days during your non bleeding period)
3. I did put up my legs after SI
4. Do a pre-preg check up to make sure you do not have large cyst/fibriods that may obstruct conceiving.
5. If can afford, go beach holidays with your partner to relax and SI everyday. I heard this is quite effective as your mind is enjoying...

hey ladies, also started trying to concieve for a 2010 baby.. and trying to do it by looking at the calendar..

was experiencing some of the symtoms last few days.. like bloating, gassy, headaches, and waiting for menses to be missed (praying hard).. but who knows it came last night.

was so disappointed..and also worried.. well have to say that this is my first month of real trying. but so envious of hearing so many stories of people getting married and immediately got pregnant, but why cant we?

moreover we really did it like every other day for a period of about 2 weeks + around the days i thought i should be ovulating..

so can't udnerstand why we kept it under such tight schedule still can't strike... hope i'm not having problems...

do you ladies face such problems before?
Hey decoco
you are only in your first month.. so try to take it easy.. I also thought it was piece of cake and who knows.. I am in the 8th month of trying! did all the fertility tests out there.. blood test, ultrasound, HSG, scans.. all but still.. the only thing to do is WAIT for my turn.. sigh...

perhaps try charting! its interesting to do... :)

Got AF symptom lohz :p And I think it should come today if based on 26 days cycle like last month, in fact I think I saw a little on the toilet paper when I went to do big business this morning >_<

I will start taking my BBT from tomorrow, argh, gotta wake up 7am everyday.

My cycle seem to become shorter after my m/c, from 28 days to 25-26 days.

Alas, try again lohz... :D

I have been trying hard to convince hubby to try for baby so finally, he agrees that we would be trying soon but he don't want to confirm a date first... Keep insisting that my back injury must be okay first... haiz....

Btw, Pootz, call me kaisu but I already told my hubby that if we don't conceive after 1 year of trying, we are going back KK since we got open appointment. They quite fast cos I had some questions after doing the pre-preg tests so called them up for an open appointment. They fixed it within a week.

Tinklish, I very Kaypoh but you might want to consider going to Polyclinic to ask for referral to hospital to do the checks. To my knowledge, KK and SGH has the checks. And it is subsidized and to me, quite fast. Coz I went to Polyclinic on Thursday and got appointment to see the specialist at KK on Monday. But I think its better to go SGH coz I heard that the service is better there.

I was super shy about doing such tests too. Coz my hubby and I are not trying and usually they start by asking how long we have tried. But we don't have a choice coz my hubby on medication so we just go to ensure that if we were to try while my hubby stop medication, our bodies are ready.

hapimint, perhaps your hubby is not ready for a child yet? :) i think guys are not anxious as they don't have a biological clock ticking. For me, I just turned 35, and the statistics scares me. :p

I have already gone to my gynae to do the usual scan to make sure no cyst, lining ok, bloodtest for progesterone, hubby's semen analyst and even the HSG... seems like all ok, so just gotta try hard. :p What does your pre-preg tests consist of? I've read from here that public hospitals seems to change their doctors along the way, not stick to one doctor one? That doesn't seem nice leh.. i prefer to have one doctor only so i can build rapport and follow-up.

Hi I'm new here, thought just to share share :)

I had to do D&C (missed abortion) because the fetus did not develop after we first got pregnant around this time last year. Hubby and I were quite devastated as we are not a 'young' couple with him age 37 and yours truly age 36 :(. Although we only got married in year 2007, we are very aware of the risks and lower chances of conception if we are not kiasu about it.

I got pregnant quite soon 1st time after my Doc pinpointed our problem, actually my problem which is prolactinemia ie too high hormone in making milk ( even though I was not pregnant!!), causing my brain to think that I am pregnant. Never knew or heard of such a condition :err:

Anycase, like i mentioned earlier fetus did not develop and we found out miscarriages are fortunately (usually becoz of genetic abnormality so better not to have anyway) or unfortunately (parents still feel the 'loss') quite common.

I bucked myself up and some kind motherly colleagues shared that it is better to try conceive again after 6 months! Anycase, I have also heard from other colleague who got pregnant right after fibroid removal so decided to try 2nd month after my D&C (procedure to remove fetus).

Lo and behold we got pregnant third month and I am now in my 28 weeks! :)

The points which helped us

1) Do NOT stress yourself / yourselves
2) Use ovulation test kit
3) Must do it the day or day after positive ovulation (friends all happened to have boys and we are also expecting bb boy)
4) Putting up my legs for 30 mins rightafter sex

Apology, I hope i wasn't too cheong hei here. Thought details will be good because we went thorugh and understand the waiting and frustrations..

Ciao for now and best of luck to all deserving women out there! :)

Hello
Shakespeare may have had it wrong when he wrote those lines. A name is important because it is the one thing to stay with your child throughout their entire life and affects who it is they become. Having a name which they can live with and be proud of, therefore, is crucial to having a good start in life and this book will show you exactly how to pick the right one. Sometimes choosing the right name is simply a case of hearing one you like near the birth of your baby and knowing instantly that you've chosen correctly. However, for the vast majority of parents the naming process becomes a complex minefield of trying to please parents, grandparents, friends and siblings while trying to avoid embarrassing acronyms with their newborn's initials, or names that could be shortened into ridiculous nicknames. Parents also like to choose something unique, but not too unique, or common but not too common, or a name which is symbolic of a cultural event at the time of the baby's birth. A name could come from an admired celebrity's baby, a sports star, or an influential historical or political figure. It could also come from the family tree, or be part of a long-standing tradition where sons are named after fathers and daughters are named after mothers. The possibilities and chances to make a mistake or offend someone are practically endless and it's understandable that it can set some parents into panic mode.
Well, never fear. This book talks you through each of your options carefully and discusses how to solve your baby-naming dilemmas in practical ways. It's also updated annually, which means you'll know the latest trends in baby names and find out the most popular names for your baby's classmates to help guide you towards your final decision. If you are a parent for whom finding your baby's name is simply a case of seeing it written down then you'll love the dozens of lists we've included, highlighting the popular, the classic and the downright weird names children have been given over the years.
