I am asking for a friend living in Redhill and for myself living in the East.

Dr Winston Ng at cck Kidslink is good but not his staff over the counter. This 2 ladies wasnt that friendly ,tactful and helpful. What happen was that my mum call in at ard 11.45am(sat) to them ,saying that they are on their way to the clinic and that my son is having fever and diarrhoea but they said their last take in was at 12pm. (but on the card say that they close at 12.30pm!) And told my mum to come back on monday!!! WTF??? Come back on mon when my son was having fever??? Btw my hse to the clinic was 10mins drive.. I mean sometime being a understanding and good doctor must have good staffs as well. Everthings come in a package. Was pretty upset with their service.

my pd's nurse also said tt last time! she said last take is 12pm and said she dun think i'm able to reach there by 12pm and ask me to go down tml morning. and i told her "if able to wait, u think i will rush down now?" and when i reached, is b4 12pm, and even aft 12pm, i still saw 3-4 more patients coming in!!! tt time i unlucky, tt not-so-frenly nurse ans the call, cos some other nurses are v frenly. haha.

Both my sons are seeing Dr lucky Joo Teck from Kidslink (Jurong East). He is my elder boy's pediatrician since birth and both husband and i very satisfied with him and appointed him as my second baby's pediatrician. We go to him for all jabs, skin allergies, rashes and other which require specialist attention. I bring my elder boy to the pediatrician for normal cough and colds until he turned 3yrs before switching to a GP at Jurong West. The same for my baby.
My baby is having rashes. Thought of seeing a Pediatrician. Is it ex?

usually a pd consultation fee range from $40 - $80. 1st time usually ard $60 - $80. my pd charges $80 for 1st time consultation, 2nd time ard $60. and the prices are only for consultation, medication not included =)

hi everyone, we don't seem to be answering potterclay's question asking for a recommendation of PD in Tiong Bahru/Redhill area and East Coast/Siglap area.... =)

potterclay mummy, i was previously looking for a PD near to my mum's place in bukit merah, in case of emergencies while my baby is being taken care of by my mum during the daytime after i returned to work. i had read from online forums that dr edmund koh is good; he runs his own private practice in the low HDB flats opposite Tiong Bahru Plaza (sorry, can't remember the name of the clinic now as we have only been there once). so we went to him when our baby was only two or three weeks old and was suffering from rash and a lot of muscus in his nasal passage.

however, for such a young newborn, i was appalled by the strong medication he prescribed without offering any more natural alternatives. he prescribed steroidak cream for my newborn without telling me it was steroidal cream - i had to read the fine print on the packaging and do research myself to discover it. i also found his way of handling my newborn during sucking out the muscus to be quite rough, compared to Dr Ong Eng Keow, who is our baby's PD from birth. so after one consultation, we decided never to go back to him again.

what i am trying to say is that, sometimes, it takes a couple of tries of different PDs before you will find the one that will suit you, your baby and your family, regardless of what online forums may recommend you. right now, we have found an alternative to Dr Ong EK. Although we think he is a fantabulous PD, he is just way too popular and his clinic has too long queues. When faced with a crying sick baby, we just want to receive consultation as quickly as possible and then take baby away from the clinic crowded with other sick babies and children. right now, we see Dr S Appan at The Children's Clinic at Bishan. It is relatively near our home, but far from my mum's. However, we have decided that we will travel to pick up baby and dash him to Dr Appan should any emergency happen, as Dr Appan is a really patient, thorough, gentle and caring PD.

Hi cmeilim,

Thank you so much for your reply. I read through the whole of this thread but still couldnt find the answers to my question. No worries.

For tiong bahru area, I'm asking for a friend who has already given birth a couple of days back. As for east coast/siglap, I am asking for myself. Helping a friend asked at this point reminds me to get prepared earlier. Hence, I will continue to search for one that is good in the east before I am due in Sept.

Cheers.

u mean some noise from nose? izzit lik 'phelgm' sound? if so, it is normal. cos newborn babies nose passage is small, so when they breathe, will have some funny sounds. such noise will go away by itself when they are as old as 6-8 mths old. ds was lik tt too, we seen pd but pd never gif us anything since this is normal =) unless ur baby having pro drinkiing milk, as in, suck abit den use her mouth to breathe. if she can suck her milk teat/pacifier, means she is brething well =)

if she is able to suck pacifier and suck milk from the teat, means she can breathe thru nose right? cos if she cant breathe thru nose, she must use her mouth to breathe. and since she nd to use her mouth to breathe, hw to suck pacifier and milk? tt's what my pd said..

if u're wry, den bring her to pd to check, so can ease ur mind too.

Is Dr Loh Hung Soo of Katong Baby and Child Clinic any good? I have my doubts, but he's the only one I know of near where I stay now. Any recommendations from Siglap, Katong and Marine Parade area will be good.
