Hello ladies,

Forgive me if I am replying to an old post..
I am 28 yr old, married for 5 yrs, TTC for 1.5 yrs.. I am diagnosed with poor ovarian reserve with AMH of 7.7pmol/IU.. My hubby has low morphology and low rapid motility.. Doc says i don't hv much time left, has told IUI may not be successful and advised to try for IVF. Do you know what is the success rate for such cases? The cost also has scared us.. I am also planning to get a second opinion from doctors at KKH or Thomson Medicals & continue treatment if doc is good, but not sure which doc to see.. Please advise.. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

The success rate varies about most of the time, the average official statistic is about 30%. The younger you are when you did the IVF, the higher chance of success. IVF success rate drops drastically after 35. Having said this, it also depends on the clinic and your health. Since you are below 30, I think you stand a higher chance of success.

Those popular fertility doc I know is Dr Loh from KK. (Not sure if he went to Thomson as lately the old team in KK took over the Thomson IVF clinic). Next is Raffles Medical Dr Sheila Loh. You can try google for information, I think there should be many reviews around.

Hi heather, my doc is from Thomson medical... Waitin time for private compare to gov is much lesser... Gov side on avg 6 mths for 1 try.... For private they can start u on next cycle.... Have u seen a gyane yet? Fertility specialist cost is higher than gynae...
I tried IUI before ivf.... Depends on ur hubby sperm to determine which way is better...
I'm 27yrs married for 5yrs... So almost same case as u =)

If you are worry on the cost, then better to do it at govt hospital.
I am doing it at SGH (De Herma), have not heard of any sista here under her but she is quite ok.

If you have not seen a gynae, then suggest to get a polyclinic referral and visit 1 at the govt hosp. I went thru polyclinic and then Dr Herma arrange for all the initial tests for both my hb and me at subsidies rate so we save quite a fair bit from there.

There after when they transfer you to CARE, it will be private rate. But if doing the procedure under govt hosp can claim $3K grant and first time doing it can deduct $6k from medisave. My nurse inform that total cost at SGH is abt $10-12K, so might need to top up abt 2-3K for whole procedure.. hope this helps. =)

Dear BabyLew,

I also did mine at SGH by Dr Yu Su-Ling at CARE. She is also pretty good, informative, patient and kind. Yah, the cost per IVF procedure is about $10-12K. Additional 2-3K is for the medication as well as injections that are needed during IVF.

However, the cycle was not successful. :( I am seeing Dr Su for Chinese medicine to adjust my body and womb to see if the upcoming frozen cycle will be positive.

I am building up my health with Chinese Medicine as well as taking regular acupuncture, hoping that it helps my uterus as well as my overall health. I definitely agree that its an emotional roller coaster and that nothing is always positive. Its like 4D or toto...have to take chance for it to happen.

Its better to let your boss know about your intention of IVF and that of the HL. I am starting to feel a bit negative and sad. Like "wu neng"/ unable to conceive. Chinese medi also take le just that I duno how is it reacting to my body. Waiting for frozen cycle but ain't sure about the success rate. What if it fails? Sigh!

Babylew... It's best to share with those who r staying with u for ivf need a lot of support.... And understanding... All medications hav their side effects oso... And oso after egg retrieval u will b very restless and tired... It's not an easy road for all of us... But we must hav faith n determination once we r on no matter hw tough this road is...

Furthermore I'm someone with depression status going thru this.... It hits me really bad... So do prepare ur hubby to handle ur emotions well ...
