Advise for post natal massage?

Just wondering if there's any mummy out there who did not engage anybody for post natal massages?

Is it really necessary?

I am not really a fan of massages.

It is not like a must thing that you hv to do the post natal massage. Further more post natal massage can be expensive for some.
Notice that now it is a trend among the chinese to also do the traditional javanese post natal massage due to teh bind.

Massage is like medicare and pedicare. Nice and gd to get yourself pampered and spend that money away. But it is not a compulsory thing that you must and need the massage.

Thanks Cakhcakh!

I'm quite vain so maybe I'll have a few sessions for the binding.
hi, i am incline to do the massage as besides the binding, more importantly, the massage of womb - proper positioning ofwomb - not that i can tell though... how to find a real good massause is also a big challenge! not to mention that prices now are so steep! much more than the last ones i've had.

I just finished 5 sessions with Mdm Katijah. I bought fr her 2 bottles of cream. 1 is the ginger cream & the other is to flatten the tummy. Both stink to me. Would like to check if u all bought the cream fr her. Effective?

Hi mummies,

I just need to know.. im pregnant with my 2nd baby now.. i strongly recommend mummies to massage n bind after giving birth.. i had mind for like 3 times already due to financial difficulties..
The thing is.. wen they asked you to eat jamu n stuff.. do u ladies take it.. coz my MIL said if ur breastfeeding ur baby.. ur baby will also have the jamu.. its like.. ur baby too will get heatiness from the jamu that their mommy takes...
My mother asked me to lift up my breast everytime when we want to drink or take the jamu.. but sometimes i forgot.. have u ladies ask the ML abt this.. bcoz we all know watever mommy eats.. baby will share it too..

And is it true that we can bind our tummy right after we had our c-section..?? my fren told me her sister bind her tummy right after her c-section in the hospital bed itself..

hi Bayu,

fr what i gathered fr my past ML, they advised to wait 2 weeks or more before massage and binding for c-sect. so the wound can heal a bit more.
as for jamu while they say lift up breast and drink then ok for baby who bf, i'm still not convinced as whatever we drink is still in us.. and we din't know what's in the jamu - whether the contents are bf safe, hence i didn't take. but i take when i stop bf but it is too heaty for me. just my personal opinion.

Hi

For all breastfeeding mums. do be careful what you consume as it may have an effect on the baby.

The Indonesian and Malay jamu are by far the best, safest and most tested for breastfeeding mother. Some of these jamu have been used for hundreds of years with proven result. Postnatal care is one of the most preserved tradition of the Malay and Indon as such they are really specialist in this area. However, commercialism has affected the quality and standard. Hence, you need to take only those recommended by experience masseuse.

Recently, there are some products (said to be for postnatal) originating from China. Most of these products have not been tested long enough for side effect. In fact, based on my friend's experience, she discovered many a time, some women given the wrong prescription, disguise as postnatal ginseng.

My friend has been providing postnatal care services for more than 10 yrs. She dispensed advise freely on nutrition, herbs, massage technique, breastfeeding problem, etc. She is also a trained counsellor experienced in handling postnatal blues, miscarriages depression. She provide postnatal massage and postnatal slimming. She is happy to just dispense advice with no obligation. She is a professional who want to help mother get the best experience from being a mother.

Do check my site for her number. https://sites.google.com/site/jainahmassageservices/. We are both into this for the love of the job more and making friends..:)

I did my post natal massage for my first pregnancy in the year 2010 with this lady, Hanis. Her charges are $70 per session. But it work miracles for me. I'm a very fussy lady and very particular with my body as I've been to many body spa. That's why I made sure I dont't hire just any lady to do my massage. She was highly recommended by my colleagues as she is WSQ certified. After giving birth to my daughter, I hate my body. I hate my flabby tummy and bloated body. I also had insufficient milk to breastfeed my daughter. Lucky I engaged her. Not only I could see a difference in my body after 7 days, I begin to have lots of milk after my first session with her. She knows how to massage the breast to stimulate milk production I guess. My body really slim down and my tummy became almost flat after my maternity leave. Even my colleagues commented I didn't look like I've just given birth! After my maternity leave I continued to do fortnightly to monthly body scrub and body massage with her. I even engaged her to do prenatal massage for me for my current pregnancy. Currently 38 weeks pregnant. I guess it's important to get a good therapist after pregnancy and not one who just use a normal rubber binder which can expand and not help with the slimming down like the one my sister got. Fortunately I found a good one.

can anyone advice how soon should we start the post-natal massage and for how long?
I started massage about 5days after delivery for straight 7 days. My massuer wrapped and massage me everyday. I regain my shape really fast but you must get an experience massuer.
