I engaged a tutor (Jeslyn) last year for my son (P4) and daughter (P1), on English and Mathematics. My kids love and always look forward to her classes. She uses a very different approach (she called it MINDS Depot protocol) which my kids will move from station to station, doing some assigned activities independently and also in group with her. There are some brain stimulating activities actually! My son's grades improved from 60+ to 80+ in their latest semester exams. They seem more eager to learn too (lesser nagging from me now) and take more ownership in their learning.
Hi Can SMS me her number. I'm Jaclyn. My hp is 94369313

I got my 3 children (Pri 5, 6 and sec 2) tutor from A*Home tuition agency. Even though i have change many tutors, their results are always below 40 marks. Especially my pri 6 son who has very short concentration, no tutors can stand him. But when I found a tutor from A*Home tuition, their results improve tremdously just within 2 months. My pri 6 son got 87 marks for his Prelim Maths (the subject he hates the most). We are all very happy for him and has recommended this agency to other friends and relatives and all are happy for the tutors the agency recommended to them.

My child was diagnosed with ASD/ADD when he was 4. He is currently in P3, going on to P4 and has been faring poorly in his subjects. Initially in P1 he was still doing okay (70+). I found a tutor for him in P2 to try to support him in his schoolwork, and it maintained around 70, but this year his results dropped quite a lot (around 50+) and left a lot of the exam questions blank. He has a wondering eye, can’t sit still and is unable to concentrate for long periods, I think 15mins max if he is even interested. I’m unable to teach him as I am afraid of losing my patience, and I feel upset every time I scold him or get frustrated with him. I am not expecting his school teachers to be able to provide the help he needs as the teachers in school are holding more than 30 children at one time.

I am looking for someone who can support him academically, as I think he may need a teacher with special needs experience who can hold his attention for longer period. He is a smart boy, but maybe the common teaching methods do not suit him, in addition to him getting distracted easily. I am not looking for therapy or brain training courses that teaches my boy how to learn, but something more applicable that is based on the mainstream MOE syllabus.

Any mummies has any recommendations?

Advantages of 1 on 1 tuition.

Greeting parents,

the following is an article about the advantages of 1 on 1 tuition. To read the full article please kindly visit the following link Advantages of Private Tuition

Private tuition offers the best value for learning especially if any of the following points applies to your child:

1. Your child is performing at level below average in class – This may either mean that your child is blessed to be in a good class/school, or it could mean that he is lacking in some of his foundation or learning techniques.
2. Your child is brimming with questions at home but he does not ask his teachers in class – Questioning is a great way to learn as it generates rigorous thinking and analysis.
3. Your child is unmotivated to learn, let alone be concerned about grades.
4. Group/class tuition has not helped pull up his grades or helped him be more interested in learning after 6 months.
5. Not only is he not doing well in class, he may be developing a set of undesirable behaviour or mindset.

Schools are getting ever-more competitive and a large number of students risk getting left behind if parents are not aware about the learning capabilities of their children. Students may be able to score consistently well (80 marks and above) in class at lower primary or secondary levels but their performance may drop gradually as they move up the grade. This can be due to a variety of reasons. Private tuition may help your child overcome the underlying problems which are producing symptoms such as those shown above.

Raising the standard of English proficiency

“With globalisation, there is a need to speak a widely used language, and this should be learnt well from a young age,” said Mdm Lim Chwee Lian, Head of Department (HOD) of English Language at Seng Kang Primary School.

ITEA_Seng Kang Primary School_4To raise the standard of English Language proficiency in her school, Mdm Lim has been developing and implementing a programme over the past four years. By encouraging reading habits, creating opportunities for public speaking and planning teachers’ professional development, Mdm Lim has been creating a culture of good English in the school. For her good work, she recently received the Inspiring Teacher of English Award 2014 for the Leadership Award category.

Reading as the foundation for learning

Believing that reading is the foundation for learning a language, Mdm Lim spearheaded the redesign of the school library into a ‘fairyland’ to attract students and give them a conducive environment for reading. Visiting the school library is a treat for students, especially when there are storytelling sessions by teachers and parent volunteers.

I got a good tutor for my child. He is specialised from Pre-school to N/O levels. Rates are affordable. Effective. If anyone needs, you can try getting. Say you are my friend, might have discount. 9091 7296.

A new academic year is coming and some of you may be looking for help for your child. This may be especially so with the implementation of the new English syllabus starting from PSLE 2015.

With 5 years of teaching experience in one of west side's top primary school, I have taught in mixed-ability and high-ability classrooms. From the results of my pupils, I have reason to believe that every child is capable of using strategies taught to find the knowledge, keep the knowledge and constantly improve from where they are. As a parent myself, I would want my child to be a life long learner with a hunger to learn and I would wish for the children in my classes to be so too. I am extremely patient and this contributes to learning taking place in a non-intimidating environment. In addition, the fact that I pay attention to ensure fun moments during lesson time enables my children in class to often become more motivated and inculcate a positive attitude towards learning.

Let me know if you would need help for your children in English at the primary level. Starting in January 2015, I will be conducting classes in the Clementi central area for the following:
- P4 group tuition (2 to 4 children in a class)
- P5 group tuition (2 to 4 children in a class)
- Mixed group tuition : siblings/ cousins in different levels

If you wish to discuss any concerns about your child's learning progress with me or to find out more before deciding if you would like me to help your child, do drop me a message or call 8311 6157.

parents! pls always be careful when engaging tutors! must always test them out first! do not let them cheat your money and have to constantly supervise the class your child is in, if not ensure results and credential are true and real.

Word of mouth the best. It trustworthy n u can see firsthand results. Getting a new tutor can be stressful.

I trust word of mouth better. Best is when the parent is able to show me the before and after when their kid joined the tuition. That will be the best prove.
