Hi Evie, yes, we are the same! Hehe I know what u mean, I'm also filling out my clothes however my arms are not any bigger (my usual benchmark for getting fat). Can't tell if it's the baby or perhaps I'm just bloated from the morning sickness.

yup ,Mummyhu

My arms are the same, hips as well. Skinny jeans fit nicely but snugly ard the tummy area. I even weighed myself , gained abt 1.5 kgs!!!
I wonder if it is the bloatedness too that contributed to the wt gain...:err:

Hi Evie, that's great news! I also went to my gynae today. My little bean's heartbeat is 169bpm.

I booked the first trimester screening test in 4 wk's time. Still wondering if I should go for that since it's testing the risk of abnormalities and it's just scary to know, even though it's non-invasive. Anyone going for this test?

i intend to do this abovementioned test as well... must book? my gynae didnt tell me must book. He just mentioned that it is a crucial test that needs to be done. My appt is in 3 weeks time. Think i better call and enquire...

Elaine, not sure if its the oscar test, as my gynae refers to it as FTS (first trimester screening) but does also involve blood test as well. but even if you know there's one in so many chances of something wrong...what else can you do but worry even more. sigh so i was wondering if this is really necessary.
Evie, according to my gynae, she wanted me to go for the FTS first before our next appt so we can go through the results together. So you can make the appt to ur gynae a week later as it take a few days to get the results. My gynae made the appt for FTS for me as it will be done in a facility in Paragon so i suppose the results go directly to her.

hmm.. think different hospital has different naming for this scanning. some called it the Oscar, some called it FTS, etc.

Pls correct me if im wrong.

its all a test to see if baby having high/low chance to be down syndrome.. they will have to withdraw a small tube of blood from you (yes, mummies)- at least week 9 den can..
then of coz, the blood will go thru lab test.. when baby is at least of a certain size (whereby nose, neck, body formed), [ i had my scan did on week 11 ], the doc can tell you on the spot the results of the blood & scanning test.

afterwhich, the doc will explain whether your baby is healthy or the chances of being a down syndrome is high anot. usually will show you in terms of figure. 1:14,539 something litat. so to say, see the ratio number big anot lor. of coz the bigger the better..

eg: comparing 1:2 and 1:14,539. Everyone hope to be in the "1:14,539" coz chances of baby being down syndrome is very much slimmer. =)

hope this help! i had my scan yesterday only. luckily, everything was great! can see baby's arms, leg, head all that. baby was moving while doing the scan. kinda shocked. coz its my #1, so not sure what i should expect.

If i am not wrong. The FTS consist of quite a number of test. The Oscar test is optional. But the rest is necessary. I think one of them is to test for 地中海平血症. I dunno the english is call wat.. there are also some other tests which my gynae told me but i forgot. hehe

hello all!

Im new to this thread and enjoyed reading ur postings.
Im into my 7th week now and visited my gynae for the ist time yesterday.

adding on to Gem2505:

Theres this 2 blood test that we MTB have to go thru which is to test for Downs Syndrome.

1) oscar @ (11-14 weeks)
2) triple test (14-18 weeks)(might be named differently according to diff clinic)

As told by my gynae, if you r a relatively young mum ( below 35 or so) oscar is sufficient cos the result is 90 % accurate.
Those above 35 hv to go for the more complicated triple blood test which involves "chou yang shui". that is 100% accurancy.

HTH!!!

Hm... My Gynae gives a dif explaination wor.. she mentioned that Triple test will only be done if the rests of Oscar test shows high... This is because Triple test has a 1 in 200 chance of having miscarriage after doing the test. maybe cos my age not above 35 so she nv say anything bout must go for the triple test ba..

looks really complicated to be a normal scan to me..hmmm. not sure about that too.

and as for all the diff scans, i think diff clinics hv their own ways of doing it so lets not complicate ourselves, as long as the lil one inside us is growing strong and healthy . =)
