Gals, to share with you on my latest update...I am officially on 2WW!!

Prior to fet, had gone for scans to check that the womb lining is at the correct thickness. Dr advise abt 10mm. Then hubby had to help me to insert crinone every night which is to provide progesterone to the womb. All pills still continue.

Before the fet, I was waiting anxiously for the embryo thawing results. The embroylogist will call me daily to inform me of the status. The waiting is scary as I cldnt sleep well at night plus I had bad cough. I pray silently everyday tat my embryos will remain strong for me. Our aim is to culture the embryos till D5 (blastocyst stage). However, on D4 morning, the dr decided tat we shld transfer the eggs back to my womb on the same day as I didnt hv many embryos left. Had to rush to the clinic in abt 1.5hrs.

After a full bladder at the clinic, the ET starts. Again I didnt like the feeling of opening my legs infront of the dr (in addtn, you hv to hold ur bladder too - so tat easier to hv a straight path to enter the womb). But well, no choice. As I am awake during the procedure, I could hear the sounds when dr cleaning and inserting somethg into tat area. I am lucky tat hubby was holding my hands throughout. A nurse was also beside me to scan my abdomen to show the womb on the monitor.

The whole painless procedure was very fast abt 20mins. Dr gave me a pic after he inserted my embryos inside me. They are so so tiny, like some 'white liquid' inside me!! Thereafter, I rested for 30mins with my legs up. After I went to the toilet, I was told to rest on the bed with legs up again, for another 30mins. But gosh, I was so sleepy tat I slept for more than 1 hr! Nurse didnt wake me as she was busy with another couple doing ET also.

Before I went home, I was given a progesterone jab near the buttocks. It was quite painful. Besides those pills tat I hv on hand, I was given duphaston pills to be taken twice daily. So in total, I am taking 7 pills daily plus insertion of crinone every night. There is one pill which I am allergic so actually I think by right, should be more than 7 pills.

If you are working, you can take mc from the dr. In the meantime, I try to rest at hme as much as poss. I also abstain fm my fav coffee, green tea, spicy or oily food, and 'cold'/raw foods during this 2ww. No carrying of heavy weights, swimming or squatting. I will need to go back tmc for the 2nd progesterone jab after 1 wk. And after 2ww, for the urine test.

My own experience before doing ivf is to obtain more info, koe the terms tat is used eg ER, ET, know what to expect so tat when the dr toks to you, you will koe wat qns to ask and also feel more prepared. Also, do get ur hubby involve as during the high hormones stages, you will feel v emo and it is gd to hv his support:Dancing_tongue:. Hope tat wat I hv mentioned will be useful for all ivf mummies. :Dancing_wub:

its very much depends on the med...

some can respond well to clomid...while others need daily jabs....

for the jabs, it will again depends on how much dosage you need.....

for eg, my case, i dont respond to clomid...so no choice but to take jabs...i respond to 112.5ml (which means its $112.50 per daily injection).....the costs is the same for other clinics too....Pls note that the jabs, you DIY deeee...abit scary laaa, but you will get used to it....

the IUI procedure (wash sperms n insert the sperms into our egg) costs about $500 (exclude consultation ya)........

you've to go back (mine was evy twice a week) for scanning of your private area to check the development of the eggs....so each time' i spent about $200++ (exclude the jabs).....when you'are about to ovulate, you've to see gynae more often ...smtimes, gynae will take blood test too (the day before you ovulate)...

my IUI costs about 4k .......

you can claim subsidy for IUI/IVF too....

urs is private or public gynae??? did your gynae suggest IUI or you'are just checking the price?
Hi,
Is the washing of spermie definitely in the IUI package? Or is it optional? I read some steps about IUI and they didn't mention about washing. Just want to make sure washing will take place when you take up IUI. Would some gynae not wash it? Of course I prefer it to be washed to pick up the good ones. Thanks

justforgags, i really admire your courage. Do continue to stand by your husband so that he can overcome tis fear. I believe that he nds to face it correctly so that the prob can be treated.

Anyway, it's true, even at Thomson Medical Center, i am surprise to see many couples with fertility probs. So it's impt that we understd that it is common among man n woman.
These days many people are under so much stress. In the past whenever a couple cannot conceive it always has got to do with the woman. But modern days show that men's problem cause nearly up to 70% of infertilty problem. And since it's modern age, I think men shouldn't feel inferior or anything. Ultimately the goal is have a baby. I rather lost face now then later.

Anyway if work is making you so miserable, I always tell my friends even my DH QUIT. I know it's not easy as $$$ still a main concern. To think about it for those who really want to have a family, should do it early and whatever means to achieve it. Rather than when we look back, we felt that we haven't done our best.

BTW, who is BABYLEMON's gynae or fertility specialist again huh. Thanks
I just want to have another doc for standby for 2nd opinion etc. I don't know. No harm having 1 or 2 good renowned one.

i nv heard of gynae not washing it.....actually its not the gynae who wash it..its another dept...

usually u've to reach the hospital pretty early to deposit ur sperms...u can DIY at home BUT u must reach the hospital within 1 hour to deposit ur sperm.....otherwise, u can DIY at the room in the hospital (they will provide u a room, my hubby did tat cos the journey to raffles takes abt 30mins, juz in case of the morn jam, we would prefer to do it in the hospital---fresh from the oven...LOL)......

the washing of sperms takes abt 1hour.....then after tat, the gynae will show u the report of the good sperm count (in term of how many millions r health sperm).....then she will proceed wif ur IUI yaaaaa.....

btw, where will u b doing ur IUI?

Hi,
Ya I know it's done by the other dept and not the gynae. Just wanna make sure washing the sperm will be done. Good that they show a report too. I visited my TCM then after my gynae over the weekends. I will only do IUI in April or June at Glen E with Professor Ng. I don't want to do now Not now cos my health at the moment is not in the right condition to do so. My TCM said it would be a waste of $$$. Worst if it is not sucessful, it's not the $$$ you pay but emotional hurt too which takes a while to recover.

What about yourself? Going for IVF soon?

Dear all,

I am new here, hope everyone has a great Chinese new year ahead.

I did my firs IUI session at KK 2 weeks back, till today, haven't got +ve sign yet, Dr. gave me two cycle to try IUI first, however, I really have no hope for IUI since my husband's low count of sperm. I wanna to try IVF when my AF comes, do you think Dr. will accept my suggestion?

This sounds maybe really pushy, but my parents and hubby's parents make us crazy, every month we endure so much stress, my MIL said they will subsidies some ivf money and want us to quickly settle it. Haiz...

Any suggestion will be great.. and wish everyone has good luck!!!

of cos IVF will b better than IUI....u can oso check the quality of ur eggs....

for IVF = 100% tat the sperms will meet the egg (kekee, of cos ya cos they inject the sperms into ur egg) unlike IUI, they only inject the sperms AROUND ur egg so the sperms will swim a much shorter distance to the egg n chances of survival is much higher than normal ML....

since financially u can cope, go ahead wif IVF yaaaa.....u can "save" more time too rite....

jia you jia you...dun b too stress too, oso not good for uself yaaa.....

Thank you lawla12 for your clearly reply.
We 'jia you' together, ok? Wish baby luck will visit us soon, and we can all become tiger or rabbit mummy... yeah!!!

I am like most of you here in this thread, i have gone through IUI or IVF and finally got pregnant on my 2nd attempt on IVF.

IMO, if dr has identified the reason for not able to conceive naturally, dont waste time in going through IUI.

I went through 2-4 cycles on clomid, 3 cycles on IUI and 2 cycles IVF..... all in the span of 5 yrs.

If you are already in your thirties and money permits and mentally and physically prepared, be determined, please go straight for IVF, dont waste time

Once you hit the age of 35 yrs old, the egg quality drops and also the no. of eggs you can produce with hormones injection also drop...

I hesitated to go on with the treatment when i failed 3 cycles of IUI and waited for another 1 1/2 yrs before i went for my 1st IVF, at that time i am already 34 yrs old... the dr "harvested" 12 healthy eggs and after fertilisation only 6 good ones... and planted 3 fertilised embryos ... the other 3 embryos frozen.... after 2 weeks period came.....

Devastated and down ....... after 1 year later, with determination and support from hubby and family members, went for 2nd IVF and planted the 3 frozen embryos. This time took leave from work and no phone calls or email from work, total bed rest, no climbing of stairs and survived boredom with watching korean drama and reading magazines & novel.

when the blood test shows high level of HGC.....and dr says possibly with 2 babies, was stunned and lost for words.... got back home and hugged my MIL....

i gave birth to my twins last year at age of 37 yrs old.

Good luck to all of you...... I believe in order God to help us, 1st we have to help ourselves.... do something

Thanks Catherine & Raymond for your cheerful story, and big big congrats to you for you finally make it and have two lovely kids. I am ready for IVF, however doctor wants me to do IUI first, I am not sure the reason behind, I dont know if IUI is a necessary step to do before IVF. Honestly, I dont want to go through IUI again next month, they want me take rest this month. I will try to talk to doctor this week to raise my concern, if they still want me to try IUI, I think I may want to change to another hospital to see if I can go for IVF directly.

hi laohormummy... if you want to go IVF directly I doubt doc will oppose. Perhaps suggesting to you on doing IUI first could be due to your age. My doc told me to go for IUI as I haven't hit 38. 1stly because of my age and 2ndly maybe is because I was able to conceive the 1st time. Good news if clomid works for me and had 2 eggs during my last visit. HOWEVER, my TCM during my previous visit told me not to waste my money for IUI yet as my womb is not in the state to do so. She just doesn't want me to go to a war unprepared. I really think we have to make sure our condition is right before doing/going for any treatment. She told me if I were to go before my womb is ready, not only $$$ draining, emotional too as who likes to accept failure right. So now, basically patient patient.... then chioooooooong ahhhhh....

dua huat sia. may all the laohor kia come to those who are TTC.... *roarrrrr*

Hi

I am new to this thread. However, would like to share on my experience with you.

Both my hubby and I have been TTC since 3 years ago. Finally have the courage to undergo IVF as suggested by my gyn. We have undergone a few tests.
ME: I went thru FSH test to check my hormone level as well as HSG to make sure that my tubes are not blocked.
DH: Went for SA test. Result not good. Low sperm count, density and shape.

As such, I have went thru my first IVF ER and ET in Oct 2009. 10 eggs retrieved and 8 fertilized with AH. 2 arrested during fertilization. 3 embryos of 8 cell were transfered during ET. I did suffered from mild OHSS and was hospitalized for 2 days. After two weeks, i was tested neg.

Doc then decided to monitor my ovulation pattern before proceed with FET.
After 3 months of monitoring, I started my FET cycle this month, 3 thaws embryos were transfer and i did not survive during the unthaw process. Again waited for two weeks (in between chinese new year period) but just a few days ago, my AF started. All my hopes gone.

Went back to see doc yesterday, doc suggested that I start IUI but without medication, just natural cycle since he knew that I am ovulating and able to produce egg. Problem lies on my DH.

But just wondering why return back to IUI given that I have 1 fail IVF and 1 fail FET.

Any one has such encountered like mine.... I am just worried abt the success rate for IUI. Doc says is just a matter of luck where a good egg met a good solder.
