Hi to all,

I am new here. :) ANd I have loads of questions...

First of all a little abt myself. Ive been trying to conceive for 4mths. And still trying (wondering if smthing is wrong). lives in Sengkang.

Would like to know if it is advisable to see a gynea for advices while Im trying for baby? or isit too early?

Even if I shld see a gynae, what shld I tell him or her? what can he or she do at this stage? What are the charges like for normal consultation?

I do not have a gynae... Any recommendations of any good gynae? Some say male gynae are better, isit true?

Thank u in advance for the help...

hi there. dun worry. i also new here too. just long a few months ago. hee

did u record ur mense date? if so, bring along around 2 to 3 dates. i think thats important. its not too early to seek gynae advice because my sis in law went to see gynae while ttc. right now, she just gave birth to a healthy boy 3 months ago. :)

i will probably go back to my gynae when ttc. so that she can check ur womb, ovary etc to make sure everything is okay prior to ttc lor. :001_302:
my gynae is under TMC de. her consultation charge is 60bucks. so expect at least 100 per visit.

i believe its how comfortable u are with ur gynae. for instance, there is one TMC gynae near my house. went 2 times, feel not comfortable unlike my hubby. feel that its allright. no doubt that gynae quite chin cai ( when he cant find the sac during my 1st visit, he didnt charge me scanning) but seems like he taking things too lightly. then i went to another gynae and is a lady ar. very nice and patient and willing to explain more. but problem my hubby find that she is money sucker. haha. anyway, in short, i feel more comfortable with her. and is quite touch and surprise that she call my sis in law (cos she is my sis in law gynae) personally to check me out when i failed to turn up for my appointment. thus, i decide to stick to her till i am pregant again and successfully give birth :)..
by the way, my gynae is dr geraldine tan. clinic at katong. its damn far from my house despite i have one at my door step.but i rather stick to one who i am comfortable with.

Hi

I think it is alright if u want to consult a gynae just to check.....and I think the gynae can give u some advise?

As for the charges, I m not really sure.....as for a good gynae, of cos I would recommend my gynae (Dr Irene Chua, KKH - TPS)hehe....so why not u read abt the gynaes at this forum? there is a lot of thread on the various gynaes at diif hospital, whether they r good or not.....

Ya I agree, a lot of pple say male gynaes are better, but personally I feel more comfortable with a female gynae.....:tlaugh:

U been trying for 4mths, we woman only ovulate for 2 to 3 days and sperms can swim around more days, do you know how to calculate ovulation? If not, ask yr hubby to :we2Randy-git: alternate days... wahaha... use this method try for 2 more months after yr menses finished, sure will kana one... but if still cannot, like me, nv ovulate at all until I see my Gynae...

Just tell her u have been trying for mths but still no good new, she will scan u and tell u wat to do, dun worry.. Consultation normally will be 100+ leh...

My gynae is a lady and my hubby likes her as he dun like me to be 'seen' by male gynae...wahaha..And I think her stitching is 'solid'(excellent), me C-section, not much pain, off the bed the next day, can take care of my boy at nite, can wash and iron clothes for my hubby when back home...My gynae is Dr Lisa Chin @ Gleneagles, one thing she only delivers at Gleneagles and she is abit expensive lah...

Thank u all for your valuable answers!!!

So if I go for check up, I will expect that she check my womb n ovaries etc. And I suppose it meant more charges on top of the consultation charge?

I was reading other forums and I noticed some people say things like "sign up packages" which include "unlimited consultations, scans etc". These packages only applies to pregnant woman right?

And also, am I right to say that even from the same clinic or same hospital, different doctor charge different consultation fees?

by the way do you all 'shop' are for gynae? or go to one thru recommenation n stick to it?

hubby doesn't have to be ard BUT it would be better for him to go with to see the ultrasound scan, hw BB grows... but if his wk is too bz den no choice.. lik my hubby, i told him to go ahead to wk as my mum volunteer to acc me...

i think most impt is the gynae... put aside which hospital, price, location... unless u're in tight budget or wan ur BB to be born in certain hospital.. if not, choosing a frenly, experience gynae is the most impt part :001_302:

Hi,

I am also TTC-ing for the past 3 months and after I have "shop" for a few gynae, I think Dr Adrian Woodworth is so far the most approachable and good gynae. I just went to see him about my problem and also that I am TTCing, he explain a few possibilities on why woman can't get pregnant and how we can get pregnant. He even write down the pointers on the paper and pass it to me. Expect the first consultantion to be fairly pricey and if he think you request some blood tests to check for ovulation or even x-ray to check if the tubes are blocked that will incur more charges. Good Luck to you and hope you can get a baby soon... me working hard too...:Dancing_wub:

You can visit Dr. Charles M.P. Lim @ Mt E Medical Center.
He specialise in helping couples to conceive.
I liked him as he will exhaust all possible solutions first before recommending operation to "clean-up" the womb or IVF to conceive.
The first famous gynae I went to recommended operation to clean up the womb as he diagnose me with endometrisis. However, when I went to Dr. Charles, he examined and said that it's more of a PCOS condition. This condition is common among woman these days due to stress, etc... you can see more info @ http://www.4woman.gov/faq/polycystic-ovary-syndrome.cfm
With Dr. Charles help, I conceived my 1st bb after 2 menstural cycles.

But, the waiting time is long as he has lots of paitents both local and overseas. Best time to visit is super early in the morning.

Dr. Charles's contact:
Ofx: 67373666
Add: #13-02 Mt Elizabeth Medical Center.

Btw, you & ur hubby might want to go for checkup as it's hard to tell where the problem lies.

Good luck!

you can try my gynae. he is based in both Mt Alvenia & Thomson Medical. I had my C-section with him @ Mt Alvenia. In fact all my sisters deliver in the same hospital & with the same gynae. He is good & very jokey fellow (at time i feel like seeing a friend more than a doctor), only prob is he dont't really have a friendly nurse in his clinic. despite that he still the best to me.

Pls see attached his details for your refer.

I think when choosing gynae must also consider convenience for you to travel and price. some gynaes are very exp and it may hurt ur pockets if you need to keep going back.

Ya Adrian Woodworth has been much recommended around here... I guess I will make an appointment to see him one of the days, since he is so near my house...

Better to make an appointment right? There are days which he is not at the clinic in Sengkang right?
