Hi,

I am planning on engaging a jamu massage lady, can mummies share their experiences, thanks..

For engaging the massage lady, how is the payment like? Any deposit required?
Or only pay per visit when she come?

Normally how long is the interval of each session? Do u do continuous for 7 days or you have break in-between?

The binding, how long can it last before you take it out?

I hired Rozi, some of my colleagues call her Hanis. She charged $70 per session inclusive of the jamu and bengkong wrap. After 3 days, I saw great results. I took 15 days with her and I'm back to my original weight before pregnancy and my tummy is so much flatter. I can sign up for 8 or 10 sessions but I'm super kiasu cos I badly want my tummy to be flat. My money's not wasted after all. She also gave me 3 free body scrubs since I sign up for 15 session. Altogether it took about 20 days cos I missed 5 days in between. If you're keen can try call her at 93882514. Just tell her recommended by Sri, I gave birth on 26 Jan.

Just to share my experiences with Mak Cik Hamida. My hubby's colleague introduced her to me and I've engaged Mak Cik Hamida for my post natal massages after my 3 deliveries, first in 2007 and the last time was nov 2010.

She is very friendly, neat, and speaks English well. She has also tried to improve her services over the years that I have engaged her, ie brought her own large plastic sheet to help keep your mattress clean, added plastic slim wrap for arms and tights at no extra costs to me.

Massage is about 1 hour, from head (including face massage but you need to provide your own face cream) to toe. I like her massage, strong and firm strokes. She used her own massage oil and will accommodate your preferences if you want other types. I didn't have much water retention, so can't say much abt it. My tummy did feel tighter after the week's session and wrap. She used 2 rolls of demin-like cloth to do the tummy wrap, with the herbal paste. The wrap cloth was replaced with new one on the 4th session. Towel used to cover the herbal paste is changed every session. She is pretty strong and can really wrap pretty tight.

Her cost was about $60 per hour, pay at end of each session. I'd engaged her for 7 days (last day no tummy wrap). Not sure if her rate has increase since I last engaged her service.

Overall I am very happy with her service and would recommend her. :)

Dear MommyDioR

Jamu and bengkong are two different things..:) Jamu is the oral herbs (like ginseng, etc) that you take to help restore and improve circulation, remove toxic and for overall health. For postnatal special care must be taken esp if you are breastfeeding. The Malay postnatal well-known brand of jamu (eg Mustika, Nyonya Meener, etc) is specially formulated to be save for mothers and babies. Please avoid taking jamu with unknown manufacturer as there may be adverse side effects. It is not advisable to take the Malay jamu together with other herbs or ginseng (eg Chinese Dom, wine, etc) .

Bengkong is the traditional wrap made of non-elastic material to help shape the tummy back into place. The material need to be non-elastic so as to follow the body contour. But discipline needed to wear it for long period, at least more than 12 hours. With minimum 7 sessions result can be seen, depending on weight gained and other factors.

hope this is helpful.

Just to share. Please be careful when doing postnatal massage. Avoid using aromatherapy oil as most of these oils are synthetically produced from carbon extracts (which emit noxious gas).. After birth, the body temperature is lower than normal (due to the locia just like monthly menses). hence warm oil is best. Also to avoid taking anything cooling. Also to avoid any ointment with camphor due to its adverse effect on infant. If you are breastfeeding, care should be taken esp when baby still has jaundice.

hope this is helpful.

Hey all, just to share that my mum is a certified masseuse. Specialised with pre/post natal massages and also do normal massage and other services(push up womb, foot reflex, slim packages and etc). Have her own small shop located in the west too if you want to try out her massage before engaging her for post natal. Its a one man show so quality won't be compromised hence she only takes in a few customers.

But of course, she's a makcik in her late 50s so her English is not that good but still understandable. :)

Do PM me if you wanna know the details!

Hi all,

I have been recommended by my collegue her ML. She slimmed down after seeing her back in the office after her 3 months leave. Her ML is Mdm Zubaidah (Ida for short). I think it's a different Mdm Ida as her mobile no is different. I intend to try her pre-natal massage first before committing for a post-natal massage. Her mobile is 91514757, if anyone is interested. She is mentioned in this link as well http://www.mummysg.com/forums/f33/prenatal-massage-9517/.

I did some research on her when my friend recommended. :) I like punctual ML as I am not the most patient of people especially if they are late.
